A lot of rumours regarding Silent Hill V and its development have spread around up until its official announcement at E3 2007. At E3, we found out that to our surprised, Silent Hill V is not being developed by Team Silent (The original creators of Silent Hill) but another studio named The Collective.
This may come as a shock and a disapointment to hardcore fans as a lot of people have already decided that it will turn out terrible because it is being developed by a Western team. However, Akira Yamaoka is doing the music and is returning as the sound director for SHV, and will more than likely be a part of the overall development process (He produced Silent Hill 3). The music is an extremely important part of Silent Hill, so having Akira Yamaoka working on the project is definately reassuring.
At the time of writing, there has been no trailer to suggest the game will turn out badly as there has been no footage shown except a logo. It is too early to pass judgement, but based on how amazing Silent Hill: Origins is looking, we shouldn't have any doubt that Silent Hill V will follow the trend of being an excellent horror game in all aspects. |
