In an interview with Gamasutra Akira Yamaoka has stated that he is participating in a new project at Konami where he assumes a suspiciously similar role to the one he has played during the production of Silent Hill: Origins and Silent Hill V "as Planning and also producing - and overall supervision". Could there be another Silent Hill game in the works? After all, the anniversary is coming up and he has said that there's something in the works.
He says this title should be announced soon, and its about 60% complete so stay tuned.
A new Silent Hill inspired album, in much the same vein as Broken Notes and The Silent Hill Fan Soundtrack, was released on September 9, 2007. The album is a collection of tracks inspired by the games' music contributions by Akira Yamaoka. The 2-CD set features 35 tracks of music running at just over two hours.
Out of Leipzig came the news that a new Silent Hill game is in production for mobile phones.
blogs.guardian.co.uk reported that: "Silent Hill is set in an abandoned orphange and apparently adopts a first-person perspective, merged with point-and-click gamesplay."(Screenshot below) Also: "Apparently, the adventure will reveal lots more secrets about the town and features three playable characters."
The German equivalent of North America's ESRB, the Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle have listed a few rating for a few games from Konami that will be showcased at this years Leipzig Games Convention. Among these titles, are; Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Silent Hill: Orphan. Strangest thing, apart from the name which is new to me, is that all 3 games were listed for PC.
Kotaku [Source] reckons it could be a rename of Silent Hill V:
"The next rating for Silent Hill Orphan may reveal either the final name of Silent Hill V or the European localized name of the PSP prequel Silent Hill Origins. It's also possible this is a new product altogether, as it too is listed for the PC."
So it could be a rename, though I hope its not because thats a terrible name, or it could be a new product OR it could be a mistake. Im hoping its a mistake or a new game at least.
Could a new Silent Hill game be exclusive to PC? No, I doubt it but we will be at Leipzig GC on the 23rd so be sure that we will find out about this game and report on it as soon as we can.
On July 2, 2007, Konami Digital Entertainment posted an announcement listing a new Silent Hill digital manga to be released this week. The new digital manga is titled Silent Hill - Double under Dusk and will be distributed via their mobile network on July 6, 2007. Currently, no other information is available about the details of the manga, including the author and illustrators. Double under Dusk will be exclusive to the Konami Mobile Network.
Silent Hill 3 the Novelization Release Announced: Konami Digital Entertainment has announced the release date for the novelization of the third game in the series. The official release will occur on July 27, 2007. The novel will again be written by Sadamu Yamashita, who wrote the previous two novelizations. Although there is no current confirmation, it is assumed that the novel will again contain revised images of the monsters from the game by the series' monster designer Masahiro Ito. Again, the book will retail at 933 Yen, 980 with sales tax (~9 USD). The ISBN for the novel is 9784861558429.
More information will be provided once the novel is released (and I get my own copy).
To be honest, I gave up hope seeing Origins at TGS. >_< Ive been checking IGN and Gamespot every hour or so to check for updates throughout the 3 days. XD When I realised the 3rd day of TGS had ended and still there were no updates i was a bit upset because it was on the list!
However, after a little bit of searching i finally found it. Its not on Gametrailers, Gamespot or IGN as far as I know. It had this stupid annoying streaming file, but i managed to work out a way to have it to download for all your wonderful Silent Hill fans. :p Im a retard, so the encoding is a bit messy so it might lag now and then >_< I watched it through several times (for the music xD) and it lagged once out of 5 times so it might be my PC.
I found this while searching around. Its from the German GameShow, but its extended. Just a cam of someone playing, but it does show off some nice camera angle changes and proves that in Silent Hill: Origins that theyve brought back the flashlight!
